Urban contemporary vocalist Chris Walker spent his childhood in Houston, playing gospel music. He moved to New York City, where he became Ornette Coleman's bass player for two and a half years. Walker then toured with Regina Belle, where he soon became musical director. When Belle noticed his fine voice, she gradually worked his vocals into her act; Chris Walker credits her for teaching him to find his voice. First Time, his solo debut, yielded two Top Five R&B hits, "Giving You All My Love" and "Take Time" (which cracked the Top 30 in pop). Sincerely Yours (1993) was the follow-up; both albums are on Pendulum/ERG. As a solo artist, Walker remained absent from the public music scene for a decade but he was hard at work and taking a new direction. While working on demos for another artist, Walker met businessman and songwriter Ray J. Davis. Davis and Walker immediately hit it off and soon had forty new songs they had co-written together. Twelve of the tracks appeared on 2005's I Know It's Love. A third of the proceeds from the album went to the American Diabetes Association in honor of Miss Mary Glenn, the woman who raised Walker.

Hailing from New York, the dance-disco outfit Indeep scored a massive hit in 1983 with "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life." Led by songwriter Michael Cleveland, the band issued a full-length album under the same title shortly thereafter, but with the disco movement almost extinct by this time (and with the emergence of such styles as rap), Indeep subsequently had a tough time following up their smash and were delegated to "one-hit wonder" status. The act continued recording into the mid-'80s, and issued a few quickly forgotten albums: When Boys Talk, Buffalo Bill, and The Record Keeps Spinning. But the group's lone hit has become a dancefloor classic over the years, and 1991 saw the release of the 23-track best-of set, The Collection.

Rappin' 4-Tay (born Anthony Forté on March 2, 1968) is an American rapper from the Fillmore District of San Francisco, California.

4-Tay made his debut on the Too $hort album Life Is...Too Short, but was arrested sometime after his 21st birthday on drug charges and served 8 months in prison. Upon his release from prison he issued Rappin' 4-Tay Is Back in 1992, and followed up in 1994 with Don't Fight the Feeling, which produced the hits "Playaz Club" (which sampled the song "Private Number" by William Bell and Judy Clay and hit #36 on the Billboard Hot 100), the "Dank Season" featuring Seff Tha Gaffla and "I'll Be Around" (which hit #39 on the Billboard Hot 100).

Rappin' 4-Tay's mainstream success has been scarce since then, but he was featured in 2Pac's All Eyez on Me album on the single "Only God Can Judge Me" in 1996 and Master P's West Coast Bad Boyz II compilation in 1997. 4-Tay was also an original member of Bay Area supergroup T.W.D.Y. in 1999.

In 2003 Rappin' 4-Tay released the album Gangsta Gumbo with the single "Burning, Burning", followed up by the album That's What You Thought in 2007.
